A big change is on the horizon!

Hi friends!

A very happy New Year to you all. I realise that I’m a bit late saying that, as the 9th day of January dawns, but the whole of this month always has that ‘new start’ energy for me so I don’t think it’s ever too late!

I was planning for my second blog everrr to be Isabella’s birth story, but it seems to be taking me many more hours than expected to write it. I think because it was SUCH a transformative experience in many ways, I want to do it justice, and share all the tiny details. So, it is still coming… I’m just not sure when!

In the meantime I thought that it would be a great time to update you on what’s going on in my life currently. If you’re on Instagram, you may have already seen - we’re off to the USA in just a couple of weeks!

It feels simultaneously like it’s been a long time coming, and also absolutely unbelievable that the time to go over is finally here. I guess I have been planning this really for as long as AJ and I have been together, but the timeline got moved back a little bit to accommodate pregnancy & Isabella’s birth, and because I wanted to be in the UK for the first few months of her life to make the most of the NHS.

But now… now there’s just 16 days to go. Eek!!

I’m equal parts excited and nervous at the moment. Anybody who has moved to a different country, or even a different part of the same country, will get it. I’m uprooting (almost) my entire life, saying goodbye to the routines I have developed while living in Devon, and starting something new. Of course the benefit in my situation is that AJ and his lovely family are all over the other side, waiting to fold us into their arms - so it’s not a totally blind move.

There’s a lot to sort out when we get there. I’m really excited to have a house to call my own waiting for us, ready for me to decorate & furnish! I LOVE house decor and I can’t wait to create a beautiful, cosy home for our family.

It’s going to be especially fun to finally get to decorate a room for Isabella! I’ve been pretty minimalist with what I have had for the baby since having her (much out of necessity, seeing as I knew we weren’t here to stay), and whilst I definitely plan to continue with that in certain areas (like toys), I’m really looking forward to making her bedroom a magical space to grow up in. She had a couple of lovely gifts to put up in her room for Christmas, and I’m taking some inspo from this gorgeous wall hanging in particular:

I’ve no doubt that’ll keep me busy for a little while - and yes, I’ll try my best to share before and afters, I know everyone loves a bit of a house reno!

As well as that, I’ll be trying to find my own tribe over there, get signed up for some baby classes to meet some mums (swimming is top of the list), and of course, make the most of being with AJ for many more hours than we’re used to! We have lotsss of hiking to do in the numerous state parks, and other places I want to visit... oh I'm getting more excited as I type this!

There’s so much good stuff to come - I hope you’ll stick around and experience it with us!
